Use Transparent Background

When this check box is marked, the legend background color matches the chart background color. If the checkbox is not marked, the legend background will be white.

Legend Position

The legend can be placed to the left, right, top, or bottom of the graph region. The legend is usually placed at the top or bottom if your text choices are longer than average. If the legend is placed on the left or right sides, long text choices will be word-wrapped in the legend. If the legend choices will not fit in the allowed height or width, it will not be displayed. Increasing the height or width of the chart could cause the legend to become visible. The legend can also be removed by selecting None as the legend position.

Include Legend Frame

The legend frame is a rectangle marking the border of the legend region. If this checkbox is marked, the frame is drawn. If Hide All Frames on the Background tab is marked, this check box setting is ignored. The width of the frame lines can be varied from 1 to 3 pixels.

Include Legend Accent Frame

The legend accent frame is a rectangle located inside the legend frame. If this checkbox is marked, the frame is drawn. If Hide All Frames on the Background tab is marked, this check box setting is ignored. The width of the frame lines can be varied from 1 to 3 pixels.

Legend Padding

The legend padding is the number of pixels separating the legend frame and the legend accent frame. The legend padding can be varied from 1 to 10 pixels.

Custom Text

If the legend is positioned to the left or right side of the graph region, custom text can be placed at the top of the legend box. The height of legend box will increase to accept the extra line of text. If the legend region is placed at the top or bottom of the graph region, the custom text is place at the start of all legend text.

Legend Font

Clicking the button on the right side of the font combo box displays a font dialog. You can select a new font, font style, size, and color. This setting is used for any custom legend text, Survey Count, extra headings, and category or series names and values.

Include Survey Count

If the check box is marked, the total number of surveys is included with the legend text.

Include Extra Headings

Extra headings are determined by your survey question topics and text choices. In some cases the headings are duplicates of the chart title caption. This check box gives you the option to remove the extra text. Depending on the information displayed in the chart, you could eliminate the extra headings here, or you could decide to remove the chart title.

Include Letters (Single Series)

If the chart data is from a single series of data points, letters can be placed next to each legend text choice. Long text descriptions on the bottom axis of a graph can occupy an excess amount of the chart region. Matching letters in the legend box with letter labels on the bottom axis creates a more appealing chart. The long text description can be displayed better, using word-wrap in the legend box. This option is ignored when multiple series and cross-tabulation charts are displayed. This option is also ignored if there are more than 25 data points.

Include Values (Single Series)

If the chart data is from a single series of data points, the numerical values (count) can be placed next to each legend text choice. This option is ignored when multiple series and cross-tabulation charts are displayed.

Values as Percents (Single Series)

If the chart data is from a single series of data points, the numerical values can be converted to percentages of the total surveys and placed next to each legend item. If a percentage is calculated, the percentage symbol is automatically inserted with the value. This option is ignored when multiple series and cross-tabulation charts are displayed.

Symbol With Value (Single Series)

The Dollar ($), Euro(€), or Pound(£) symbol can be placed adjacent to the legend value. If the Values as Percents check box is marked, this setting is ignored. This option is ignored when multiple series and cross-tabulation charts are displayed.

Legend Decimals

Legend Values can display precision with zero to 3 decimal places. The spinner can be changed to vary from 0 to 3 decimal places. If zero decimal places is selected, integers are displayed for the minimum and maximum values for each item.
